The Washington DC South Mission has set a goal for the moth of June to baptize 240 people!! They are setting this amazon goal as a fairwell for President and Sister Albright.

~May 27, 2012- Mt. Vernon Chapel~

The picture below are of the Mt. Vernon Chapel that Elder Garcia goes to. It is located on the right of the Potomac River! The George Washington Memorial Parkway is a scenic drive that runs from the Mt Vernon Estate (home of George Washington), along the Potomac River and all the way into Washington DC. The road is bordered by a small green beltway and running/biking path next to the river.

~May 24, 2012- Elder Garcia Has A New Trainer!~

The new missionaries (trainees) all got together in a short meeting before the big transfer meeting to meet meet their new Sr companions (trainers). Elder Garcia will now be training Elder Pedraza!

~May 21, 2012- Importance Of Having Integrity In Order To Have The Spirit~

When the Mt. Vernon Zone had interviews, Sister Albright asked each of the missionaries about their planners and she took a look at each of them. She says that some missionaries are excellent planners, and others are not. The missionary schedule has 1/2 hour set aside each evening for planning and all morning on Fridays. When they plan with prayer and inspiration, it has a great positive effect on their work. She discussed the importance of planning and setting goals for those who need it. She continued to ask each of the missionaries what they have learned on their mission. One of the many things Elder Garcia has learned is the importance of having integrity in order to have the spirit. Elder Oliverson, his comapanion, has learned that there is great sorrow and pain associated with breaking the law of chastity.

~May 20, 2012- Spanish Forum~

The missionaries all got together for a special Spanish forum meeting.  The Spanish missionaries love to get together to focus on needs and training for spanish investigators. They also do some cultural training and language training. They all went to Pizza Hut following the Forum.

~May 7, 2012- Elder Bednar Comes to DC!~

This week Elder Garcia talked to Elder Bednar at the temple, which was an amazing experience! On Sunday they had a conference with him in the Temple Visitor's Center. Prior to Conference Elder Bednar assigned the missionaries to study two articles. 1. Seek Learning By Faith and 2. Ask In Faith. 
Elder Bednar was wonderful. He used a great teaching approach where he facilitated a discussion by asking about the articles he had assigned,  he said,  "What stood out to you?

The missionaries were so eager to participate and it was a meeting filled with much revelation for each of the missionaries personally. 

After the first half of the meeting, he changed the format and allowed the missionaries to just

ask him questions.
